What is Business Consulting ?

Consulting by Direct InciteConsulting is different from Coaching. Our consultants get into the nitty gritty of the business and plan and strategise on HOW to get the desired result. Consultants get involved where as coaches support, encourage and listen.

The areas of specialisation include business plan development, marketing & sales planning, succession planning, business expansion, comprehensive financial modelling and company documentation, including information memorandums and company profiles.

Our consulting style also factors in the non-core business issues the client may be facing such as moving house, personal debt management, additional children, sick family members as well as other businesses the client may own and run.

Project fees range from $5K-$50K depending on the project. Some projects qualify for 50%-100% government assistance, subject to State Government eligibility criteria. We work with all Australian State & Territory Government Departments to assist our clients to apply for and secure government funding assistance for business consulting.

We also assist entrepreneurs to start-up or buy existing companies. We can provide strategic consulting on planning, profit, cash flow and product mix as well as industry and personal support structures, allowing clients to decide on the next steps before undertaking further serious investment. This is a very valuable process for people who are really excited and have no real experience starting and running a business.

7 Questions to know if business consulting would make a difference

  1. Is the business owner passionate and dedicated, yet lacking skills and knowledge?
  2. Are the people in the business doing too many things and are not effective?
  3. Is the business producing inconsistent results?
  4. Do the business owners really understand their market and how to sell the product?
  5. Is the business plan just in the owner’s head and driven by gut instinct?
  6. Are some or all of the business systems and processes not documented?
  7. Do the owners of the business want a business that they don’t HAVE to work in?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, click here for a free 30 minute consultation (on the phone or in person). In this consultation we can determine how your business needs to grow, what support structures are necessary for success and if any state or federal funding can help you.

Case Study

The Business – The owner of an export business was 18 months into 2 new business ventures. The turnover of the businesses combined $3 million in sales and both businesses fed off each other. There were existing contracts that were not secure and the profitability was inconsistent. The staff were unmotivated and at the point of walk out and the General Manager was costing the business in poor management and bad decisions.

The Owner – His vision for the future of his business was exciting him and his personal life was a mess. Separated from his wife and young family, this was having a huge emotional impact on his ability to focus. He was physically exhausted with working so hard compensating for incompetent staff. He was frustrated with what to do next and how to get out of the mess he was in.

What We Did & the Results
Coaching – we coached the owner for 6 months and he is now clear and focused.
Consulting – the business now has a 5 year vision and strategic plan to grow and contracts are secure with new opportunities in development. The GM resigned and new staff were hired that fit the nature of the owner and the business.
Consulting – we prepared the award submission for the NSW Export Awards. The company won the Emerging Export Award that year.
